Designed for winter and colder transitional weather, this mediumweight horse turnout rug combines a warm 250g insulated filling with a durable 600-denier ripstop outer. The protective outer fabric is treated with a water-repellent PU coating, helping shelter your horse during wet, windy and changeable conditions.

A fully detachable neck cover allows the rug to be adapted according to the temperature, weather and needs of the individual horse. Attach the neck for extended coverage during colder or wetter conditions, or remove it when the horse needs increased ventilation around the neck.

The improved Rastrick V2 fit has been developed to provide comfortable body coverage while supporting natural movement during turnout. Tall shoulder gussets create additional room through the front of the rug, allowing the horse to walk, graze and move around the field with less restriction across the shoulders.

A soft faux-fur wither pad cushions the area where pressure and friction can occur. The upper surface of the pad is waterproof, helping prevent it from becoming saturated during wet weather.

Inside the rug, a smooth anti-rub and anti-static polyester lining helps reduce friction against the coat. This makes the rug particularly useful for clipped horses and horses whose coats are prone to rubbing or static beneath winter rugs.

Trigger-clip chest fastenings provide quick, secure closure and can be adjusted using the buckle fittings. An additional hook-and-loop chest catch helps hold the front panels together while the main fastenings are secured.

Three chest D-rings support the fastening system and make individual chest components easier to replace if necessary.

Crossed belly surcingles help stabilise the rug underneath the horse, while removable elasticated leg straps keep the rear securely positioned during movement and windy turnout conditions.

At the back, a generously sized umbrella-style tail cover extends protection across the hindquarters and upper tail area. Its shaped design helps rain run away from the rear of the rug while providing increased coverage during wet and windy weather.

Finished in a classic navy colour with contrasting red and white detailing, Whitaker-branded surcingles and a navy-and-white rubber badge, the Rastrick V2 combines practical winter protection with a smart, coordinated appearance.

Consider your horse’s breed, age, clipping, body condition, health, access to shelter and local weather before choosing a rug weight.

No rug can guarantee the correct temperature in every situation. Check your horse regularly by placing a hand beneath the rug behind the shoulder. The horse should feel comfortably warm and dry rather than hot, sweaty, cold or clammy.
