John Whitaker Rastrick V2 Airflo Fixed Neck Turnout Horse Rug – Navy

The John Whitaker Rastrick V2 Airflo Turnout Horse Rug provides a practical balance of ventilation and weather protection for warm, showery and changeable conditions.

Designed as a lightweight, no-fill turnout rug, the Rastrick V2 Airflo combines protective turnout fabric across the horse’s back with breathable Airflow Mesh panels along the sides, lower skirt and neck. This hybrid construction helps shield the most exposed upper area from passing rain while allowing heat and moisture to escape through the ventilated sections.

It is particularly useful during warmer spring, summer and early autumn weather when a standard waterproof turnout rug may feel too warm, but the horse still requires protection from light showers, wind and insects.

The waterproof turnout fabric running along the spine helps protect the horse’s back from rain and damp conditions. Unlike a conventional turnout rug, the lower mesh sections remain highly breathable, encouraging air circulation around the horse’s body and helping reduce uncomfortable heat build-up.

A fully fixed neck provides continuous coverage from the body of the rug to the poll. Mesh sections within the neck maintain airflow while the protective upper material helps shelter the topline from passing showers.

The integrated belly flap extends coverage underneath the horse, helping protect the belly from flies, wind and light rain. It also contributes to the secure fit of the rug while the horse is grazing or moving around the field.

A shoulder gusset provides additional room through the front of the rug, supporting a more natural range of movement when the horse walks, grazes or plays during turnout. The chest area is reinforced to improve durability in a section that regularly experiences pressure and wear.

At the rear, a waterproof tail cover provides additional protection across the hindquarters and top of the tail.

The Rastrick V2 Airflo is best suited to warm, unsettled days when ventilation is just as important as weather protection. It offers greater rain coverage than a standard mesh fly rug while remaining cooler and more breathable than a conventional full-fabric turnout rug.

Important Information

This is a hybrid airflow turnout rug rather than a completely waterproof turnout rug.

The spine and tail cover provide waterproof protection, while the ventilated mesh sides, neck sections and lower skirting are designed to allow airflow. Water may pass through the mesh areas during prolonged or heavy rain.

For sustained wet weather, colder temperatures or exposed turnout, use a fully waterproof turnout rug with an appropriate filling.

Always check your horse regularly to ensure it remains comfortable and is not becoming too warm, cold or wet.
